Samsung, one of the leading mobile phone providers, will ship Nuance predictive text input products T9 and XT9 across its global range of mobile phones. T9 and XT9 are predictive text technologies which allow users to faster and easier send text messages and emails, as well as to quickly type URLs via any keypad format.

Samsung will be providing predictive text capabilities to a wide range of users, since T9 and XT9 support 80 languages. Samsung will feature Nuance’s products on its mobile handsets based on Samsung operating systems as well as others such as Symbian, Android, and Windows Mobile. T9 and XT9 are already included on some of Samsung’s models.
“Our global consumers demand innovation in messaging, so anything we can do to make it faster and easier for them is a key dimension of our phone design strategy,” said Hyoungmoon No, vice president, R&D Planning Team, Samsung Electronics. “This expanded relationship with Nuance ultimately enables our broad consumer base to send messages and emails in half the time, quickly enter URLs, and more, on any phone we bring to market.”
Thanks to T9 and XT9 mobile users can quickly and easily write text messages. They can also switch between different letters, numbers, symbols, and languages. XT9 supports automatic word completion and word correction and allows users to enter URLs faster on phones which feature an HTML Web browser.
“Samsung brings innovative phone after innovative phone to market, and we are thrilled to expand our relationship and offer our predictive text solutions to its broad consumer base,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile. “We understand the messaging demands that leading global handset manufacturers like Samsung face, so we’re continuously innovating our predictive text input solutions to support any device brought to market, in more than 80 languages worldwide.”
