Nuance Communications has announced that it has acquired SpinVox, a provider of voice-to-text services. Nuance has integrated SpinVox’s carrier services within its speech recognition platform in order to speed up the growth of its voice-to-text business.
The estimated number of the world’s operational voicemail boxes has reached one billion, and over 150 billion voicemails are generated each year. Nuance and SpinVox have concentrated on solutions utilizing speech recognition that convert voicemails into text which can be sent as an SMS or an email message. “Around the world, the voice-to-text market has experienced tremendous growth over the last year, with a variety of innovative services being delivered by carriers and unified communications providers,” said John Pollard, vice president, Nuance Voice-to-Text Services. “With SpinVox’s robust infrastructure, language support and operational experience, we will broaden the reach and capabilities of our platform.” For more information, please visit www.nuance.com.
