ABBYY UK and Douglas Stewart, a distributor of computer products for the charity and education markets, have recently announced a distribution agreement for the United Kingdom and Ireland. This distribution agreement will help create market awareness for ABBYY products in these markets.
“We are very excited to partner with ABBYY as they develop the finest document conversion and data capture software technology that is highly suitable for the education market," said Lori Mercier, Managing Director, Douglas Stewart EDU. “With our thorough understanding of the education and charity sectors we are uniquely positioned and qualified to ensure their products are targeted to the right audience.” Douglas Stewart will be distributing a variety of ABBYY products. This range includes the desktop OCR applications ABBYY FineReader Professional, Corporate, and Express Edition for Mac. The software converts paper documents to editable data. Other products included in the agreement are ABBYY PDF Transformer, the linguistic software ABBYY Lingvo, as well as ABBYY Recognition Server. In addition to boxed software, Douglas Stewart will also distribute download versions of ABBYY products. “Our products allow people to access information contained in paper, scans and PDFs. In the Education and Charity market this is particularly useful because it allows educators to more easily impart knowledge and enables students to overcome disabilities,” explains Dave Evans, Sales Director for ABBYY UK. “Douglas Stewart has a proven and successful record in the UK distribution market and this is just one of the reasons we chose to partner with them. Their strong relationships will help bring ABBYY products to a wider spectrum of the market.”
