I.R.I.S., a company specialized in Intelligent Document Recognition (IDR), Electronic Document Management (ECM) and complex infrastructure for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), announced that their IRISDocument Server and IRISPowerscan have been chosen by the Dutch law firm Turnaround Advocaten to achieve a fully digital office.
Thanks to the OCR and compression techniques, all scanned and digital images are now searchable to all lawyers in the firm. Turnaround Advocaten is a law firm, specialized in business and insolvency law. The firm offers legal services in turnaround and risk management. René Beulen, Sales Director at Morningstar Systems said, “Turnaround Advocaten is a pioneer within the legal business when comes to the implementation of the I.R.I.S. product gamma, but we notice a growing demand in the market. The chosen products are qualitatively strong and are based on powerful technologies.” In a pilot initiated by I.R.I.S. the law firm examined the possibilities of full-text searchable PDF documents. The existing multifunctional was connected to the IRISDocument Server in order for scanned images to be processed instantly. iHQC (intelligent high quality compression) techniques were used for compression of the PDF files. As a result, the size of a full-text searchable PDF is up to 300 times less than the original color TIFF files. This will help Turnaround Advocaten to decrease data traffic and enable quick access to all necessary documents. IRISPowerscan is used for digitizing incoming mail. Using a separate workstation, all paper documentation is converted to a digital format. IRISPowerscan provides Turnaround Advocaten with many capabilities in optimization, barcode recognition and sorting which is based on the IRISDocument Server with iHQC technique. The IRISDocument™ Server periodically checks and processes the newly incoming files so that digital files like e-mail are made full-text searchable.
