Nuance Communications, Inc. yesterday announced that in response to a large number of user requests, its applications Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search are now available for the iPod Touch. Both of these applications are free of charge on the Apple App Store for a limited period of time.
Users of iPod Touch can now benefit from Dragon Dictation’s voice recognition capabilities to dictate emails or update any text field (for example their status on Facebook) using the Clipboard function. Additionally, the application can automatically determine when the user has finished dictating. By adjusting the app settings, users will be able to use it even when their hands are busy, without having to hit the “Done” button on the interface. With Dragon Search, people can speak their search queries and get instant results from a variety of top websites and content sources including Google, Yahoo! or Bing, Wikipedia, iTunes, YouTube and Twitter via the Dragon Search Carousel. “The response to the Dragon Apps from the iPhone consumer base and press community has been tremendous. We’ve heard the demands loud and clear to share that experience with iPod Touch users, and have worked hard over the last few weeks to deliver,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager of Nuance Mobile. “iPhone users have clearly demonstrated a strong demand for fast accurate dictation capabilities and a desire to search beyond just Google. The downloads and usage of both apps have exceeded all of our expectations.”
