ABBYY Europe has announced the release of a new command line interface utility, ABBYY FineReader Engine 8.0 CLI for Linux. The engine allows quick integration of ABBYY’s PDF conversion and optical character recognition technologies within Linux environments.
Using ABBYY technology, business can digitize paper-based information into their business processes. “ABBYY’s product offering includes a wide range of document recognition applications and integration tools to suit a variety of different scenarios and environments,” explained Jupp Stoepetie, CEO of ABBYY Europe GmbH. “With FineReader Engine CLI for Linux, adding automated OCR is as simple as adding one more command line to the script. With this easy integration we make our technologies accessible to an even broader audience.” ABBYY FineReader Engine 8.0 CLI for Linux enables users to control functionality via command line access. This allows developers to integrate OCR within a number of solutions - from desktop applications to server-based systems. The solution delivers the converted text in many different file output formats such as RTF, HTML or PDF. The solution reproduces the document formatting and layout. ABBYY OCR technologies are available for integration into software applications hosted on a number of different platforms (BSD, MacOS X, Linux, Windows and Windows Mobile, Android, iPhone, Symbian).
