I.R.I.S. has reveiled a new version of its document recognition server IRISDocument Server 9, which is compatible with the Canon Multi-Functional Peripherals (MFP) imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE.
After the documents are scanned on the MFP, they are sent to a watched folder and then picked up by IRISDocument where they are converted into compressed, editable and searchable electronic files. IRISDocument recognizes text in 137 languages and features barcode recognition, used for document separation. IRISDocument Server 9 is designed in order to deliver the documents directly to the users via personal folders, mail boxes or FTP folders. It can also send email notifications to users when a document has been posted in their FTP or personal folder. Administrators define a workgroup and the file output format from the list offered by IRISDocument. Administrators can also offer multiple configurations (more than one One-Touch/Quick- Menu button on the MFP). Users identify themselves by logging into the MFP or by entering a specific document name, provided by the administrator, acting as an identifier. “Even though this special version of IRISDocument 9 was specifically developed for a swift installation and configuration on Canon’s MFPs, it was not downsized in any way, and provides the administrator with all the features of the standard one. Its purpose is to add value to the MFP by discharging it from the processing part and by adding many output formats as well as our revolutionary hyper-compression technology. This makes the workflow altogether faster. Moreover it was built to take full advantage of a company’s user structure, and provide personalized OCR services to the whole organization.” comments Pierre De Muelenaere, I.R.I.S. President and CEO. More information can be obtained at
