Accusoft Pegasus, a company specialized in providing imaging software development kits (SDKs), has recently announced the release of MICR Xpress. MICR Xpress is a character recognition SDK which is designed for developers of financial services software. With MICR Xpress applications recognize MICR content from scanned checks or other documents.
         Software engineers can use the toolkit for recognition of the 14 ISO-standard MICR E-13B characters. Sodtware engineers configure a zone of the image which will be searched for MICR content, and can then parse MICR lines into fields. MICR Xpress provides confidence values for each field and each character. The SDK supports grayscale, black and white, as well as color images, and offers several options for image cleanup such as despeckle, deskew, border cropping, and image rotation.
          The MICR Xpress SDK enables developers to build applications for either 64-bit or 32-bit Windows .NET architectures. The toolkit is optimized for Visual Studio 2005 and 2008, and is compliant with .NET Framework 2.0 and higher.
          “As more and more workflows are based on scanned images of checks, with no access to the physical checks, we see new applications for MICR Xpress,” says Paul Firth, product manager at Accusoft Pegasus. “For example, MICR recognition can be used in systems made for cross-checking the data in standard X9.37 files, or for routing of check images.”
