Accusoft Pegasus, provider of imaging software development kits (SDKs), has announced the release of updated versions of its forms processing SDKs. Customers can benefit from improved processing power and speed in the new 32/64-bit .NET versions.

The latest SDKs increase OCR and ICR accuracy through the application of regular expressions to field recognition. The latest version also increases the international market for ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition of hand printed characters) applications.
The FormFix v4 and the SmartZone v3 software development kits are now available as 32/64-bit AnyCPU .NET versions. SmartZone adds ICR in 11 Western European languages, as well as an increase to OCR and ICR accuracy. Recognition is performed by pre-set or customer-configured expected character patterns for each of the fields. Additionally, the engine reports back confidence of the recognition results.
“The recognition engine employs regular expressions to improve results up front rather than assuming manual validation of data downstream,” says Rick Scanlan, director of sales engineering at Accusoft Pegasus. “Users who take advantage of this new feature will experience improved recognition accuracy and improvements both in coding and workflow efficiencies.”
This version of FormFix also provides improved optical mark recognition (OMR) as well as improved form dropout. It now accepts color images for processing, and applies color enhancements before the form recognition.
