Pegasus Imaging Corporation, provider of digital imaging technology, has announced the release of PDF Xpress v3, software development kit (SDK) which delivers PDF file support to software developers for building document management applications. The latest version also features support for PDF/A files. PDF/A is a self-contained, standards-based electronic document file format for long-term archiving.

Developers can use the SDK to build applications for PDF creation, viewing and editing with Adobe technology. PDF Xpress is delivered as a .NET SDK and an ActiveX SDK. It can be used in combination with ImagXpress SDK for extended PDF features and support.

PDF Xpress v3 can be used to create image-only PDF/A compliant documents. Software developers can add watermarks to PDF documents, by using a text string or a PDF page which contains images and text. It is also possible to remove existing watermarks in PDF documents. Adding text objects to PDF is now also supported. Additionally, PDF Xpress v3 enables developers to build applications for faster PDF viewing and printing by rendering pages to a Device Context. “The ability to convert images to PDF/A, by automatically fixing compliance issues, is a great addition to the PDF Xpress product,” says Steve Wilson, program manager at Pegasus Imaging. “It’s ideal for archiving scanned documents.”
