LEAD Technologies has announced a new release of LEADTOOLS Version 17.5. The updated version offers various enhancements and a number of new technologies and features in the Document and Medical product lines.
Enhancements to the LEADTOOLS Document Engine The LEADTOOLS Document Imaging engine comes with significant improvements to the speed and accuracy of the OCR, PDF and Barcode engines, as well as new SharePoint integration capabilities.
Improvements to the OCR Advantage engine include:
- Increased speed by up to 300%
- Faster and More accurate table detection
- Auto Orient up to 8x faster
- Improved algorithm for small zones - increased accuracy for Forms Recognition and Processing
- Enhance accuracy of color image recognition - new segment based auto-binarization algorithm
PDF Improvements:
- Load times are now between 400% and 800% faster

- Support for reading with 128 bit AES and 256 bit AESv3 encryption
- Native multithreaded support
SharePoint Integration
- Users can load and save images directly to and from SharePoint
- SharePoint integration with OCR, Barcode, File Format Conversion and more

- Improved speed for Windows Phone 7 Barcode libraries
- New Live Capture Barcode demo
Enhancements to the LEADTOOLS Medical Engine The new version of the Medical Web Viewer Framework and PACS Framework offer new features that include cross-platform and mobile device capable viewers, as well as a new OEM-ready DICOM Server application with source code.
OEM-ready DICOM Storage Server application with Source Code
- Patient Updater feature: patient/study management client enabling users to move, merge, and update patient information using DICOM communication
- Auto-Copy feature: automatically routes the retrieved DICOM image data to multiple storage locations
- Gateway feature: acts as a query/retrieve proxy, automatically relays a single query/retrieve to the specified external DICOM servers
- Forwarding feature: automatically forwards DICOM image data to another PACS server
- Full source code for customization or branding with users’ company logos
