OCR software can convert handwriting and change them in to either a readable or editable document, it can recognize a word to read aloud (books quia a Spanish aid for colleges uses OCR in this manner so people taking online classes can hear the Spanish word out loud, you can use it to make a stored listing of business cards (never worry about losing them, just scan it in and you can look it up later), is used in reading surveys and things such as your census and then uploading a database.

This is pretty impressive stuff. How does the read aloud portion compare to say, if you had a human being read it? Is it just as good, or really more good for the price and ease?

Don't forget it can be used for music as well as keeping track of receipts. These are two varied uses but it goes to show you the versatility of the software.

Meme, sorry but OCR engines as of today cannot recognize "handwriting" not can ICR engines. We've been working with at-least 4 OCR engines, free, average,very expensive ones and none of them even claim that they can recognize handwriting. Is there a specific one you worked with that supports handwriting?
