ABBYY’s dictionary applications now include a Chinese edition, a special release of the popular dictionary software ABBYY Lingvo. Specifically designed for Chinese users, the new edition provides accurate translations of words and phrases from and to English, Russian and Chinese.

Leading dictionary publishers, such as Collins and Russkiy Yiazyk, teamed up with ABBYY on the project to deliver reliable and high—quality content.
The Lingvo dictionaries, including the Lingvo x3 Chinese Edition, contain detailed entry information for keywords, such as example sentences, pronunciation keys, grammatical descriptions and inflected word forms. A special Russian-Chinese-Russian phrasebook is included in the new dictionary to provide contemporary, commonly-used phrases with accurate translations.
Eight interface languages are supported in the Lingvo x3 Chinese Edition – English, Chinese, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Ukrainian, Polish and Kazakh. It includes virtual keyboards which allow users to type in Cyrillic-based characters.
The Lingvo x3 Chinese Edition boasts a variety of look-up functions, ranging from instant translation via a Pop-up dialogue to full-text search option. Users can benefit from instant translations while working on other applications such as a web browser or MS Word in a pop-up dialogue without having to quit the application. The full-text search function allows to quickly find all available information on a word and its usage in all dictionary content. The ABBYY Lingvo interface provides a toolbar link to Wikipedia and Internet searches so that users may find additional information about words and phrases and see examples of their use in different context. Additional functions help the users find words even if they are unsure about their spelling.
ABBYY Lingvo allows the creation of custom dictionaries with specific vocabulary in a format convenient for frequent use. The application also includes Lingvo Tutor, a tool for easier memorizing of new vocabulary.
