I.R.I.S. Group has announced IRISDocument 9, the latest version of its text recognition and compression server. IRISDocument 9 Server, formerly called IRISPdf, is a solution for structuring, indexing, compression and conversion of documents into searchable, optimized text files. It can process large volumes of documents, using images from different workstations, on a single workstation or on a server.
“This new version of IRISPdf, renamed IRISDocument, extends its integration with the most renowned scanning and document management applications such as Microsoft SharePoint”, says Pierre De Muelenaere, CEO and founder of I.R.I.S. “The support of the new XPS format of Microsoft combined with our compression technology iHQC offers users new opportunities. IRISDocument™ Server, unlike the competition, has no page limitation making it the most price competitive OCR Server to convert all images into indexed and editable files. Thanks to the Multi‐CPU add‐on, IRISDocument will process up to 60.000 pages a day per Server making it the fastest OCR Server available on the marketplace.” A new output format in the solution is the XML Paper Specification (XPS). XPS is a fixed‐layout document format which preserves document fidelity, so the documents appear in the same way on any device. IRISDocument Server 9 can generate various XPS file types, including image‐text, text, text‐image, and image files. It can also create bookmarks and include graphics. I.R.I.S.’ technology iHQC allows the hyper‐compression of XPSs with impressive color compression ratios applied to the XPS format (up to 400 times). IRISDocument 9 Server can also create hyper-compressed PDF/A‐1b with the iHQC technology for long‐term archiving purposes. IRISDocument can connect to any Microsoft SharePoint server to export the generated documents with their indexes. If IRISDocument and IRISPowerscan are combined, the various document types and their indexes (defined prior to scanning) will be exported to SharePoint into the appropriate document libraries, based on the document types. Users can benefit from the IRISDocument Watched Folder mode to process large amounts of documents automatically. Several watched folders can be created with different settings. Users configure their scanner to drop the files in the proper watched folder and IRISDocument Server initiates the recognition process of the new documents according to the pre‐configured settings and exports the output files in the pre‐established formats.
