ABBYY has released a new version of Business Card Reader for the iPhone - the solution for capturing and processing contact information. The latest version of the application features enhancements based on user feedback. Business Card Reader now features support for Greek, and can recognize text in 17 languages.
The application can transfer contact data (such as names, numbers, e-mails, etc.) automatically from business cards to the iPhone address book via the camera and text recognition technology. The different types of contact information are saved into the appropriate data fields. Version 2.0 recognizes the first and the last name in photos of business cards and saves them separately. The application can save postal codes, cities and countries separately to the specified fields of the address book. Business Card Reader for the iPhone can remove capitalization from text so that users do not have to edit it manually.
“When developing earlier versions of Business Card Reader we were mostly focused on technology challenges such as the highest accuracy of photographed text recognition and extensive languages support”, said Olga Tolstunova, deputy director of Mobile Products Department at ABBYY. “Now we aim to bring the application to new levels of usability and ease of use.”
