Nuance has announced that its Dragon Medical Mobile Search App s now available on the Apple App Store. The app gives clinicians a more convenient way to search for medical information.
Dragon Medical Mobile Search is a form of Nuance’s Dragon NaturallySpeaking software.
With the help of Dragon Medical Mobile Search, clinicians can dictate a search query and the results are displayed from sources such as Drugs.mobi, IMO, MedLine, MedScape and Google. “Recent and rapid improvements made within the smartphone industry have increased physician demand for easy-to-use, relevant, medically-oriented applications. However, similar to the personal computer and barriers associated with EMR adoption, keyboards, especially those found on smartphones, can slow clinicians down,” said Jon Wahrenberger, M.D., a cardiologist at Dartmouth Medical Center. “Extending speech recognition to the mobile clinical workflow speeds and simplifies the cumbersome process of having to type on a small keyboard. Dragon Medical Mobile Search has been a tremendous tool to easily access clinically relevant information at the point-of-care without having to fumble through various search engines or worry about spelling a medical term correctly.”
“As next generation smartphones like the iPhone become ‘must-have’ devices for clinicians, Nuance is committed to extending its market leading, mobile speech technologies to the healthcare industry to provide clinicians with simple and intuitive speech-powered capabilities for these devices,” said Peter Durlach, senior vice president, marketing and product strategy, Nuance Healthcare. “With Dragon Medical Mobile Search, clinicians can take full advantage of the iPhone to improve patient care and clinical workflow at the point-of-care, without having to locate a PC or carry another device to search for necessary medical information and references.”
