Nuance has announced the new release of its desktop PDF software, Nuance PDF Converter Enterprise 7. Nuance’s ambitions are to make the software an alternative to Adobe Acrobat. The innovations include visual document assembly, allowing the easy combining of documents into a single PDF, as well as a Web PDF toolbar.

Nuance PDF Converter Enterprise 7 also features one-click scanning with scan-and-markup capabilities. The visual document assembly feature in Nuance PDF Converter Enterprise 7 allows “drag and drop” to combine MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents with PDF documents. The Web PDF toolbar allows users to customize how they interact with PDF files within Internet Explorer, FireFox and Google Chrome. The new release also improves accuracy by 20 percent.

Nuance has also added one-click scanning, as well as scan-and-highlight and scan-and-redact features. Nuance PDF Converter Enterprise 7 includes Looks-Like Search, which can find items with distinct patterns, such as a phone number or an email address.
