OnlineOCR.net is an online optical character recognition service. It is suitable for processing files of up to 20MB. Users may upload scanned paper documents, including multipage files, or digital camera captured images, and the service will process them into searchable and editable digital documents.
OnlineOCR.net produces quite good results for a service of its kind. The processed documents retain the original layout, including graphics, tables, columns and bullets. It supports automatic image rotation and full-page image deskew (fixing slanted pages or other small imperfections in the scanning or the document surface). It also allows the creation of black and white images from color or grey-scale image files, and retains the non-text color regions so that they can be reinserted in the output document.
The supported input formats are PDF, TIFF, BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIF, PCX and ZIP. The recommended resolution for the input images is 200-400 DPI. The recognized text can be converted to DOC, XLS, PDF, HTML, RTF or TXT. OnlineOCR.net supports 28 languages.
