The Corporate Edition of ABBYY FineReader features various network options which enable multiple users within a single network to perform optical character recognition with better efficiency. Users may share a conversion process by recognizing, processing, and proofreading a batch of documents at the same time.

When ABBYY FineReader is run on a local area network, the software tools are available on each of the workstations.

If you would like to use a document simultaneously on multiple computers within a network, consider the following:

  • Install a separate copy of ABBYY FineReader 10 on each computer.
  • All users need to have access to the document.
  • Each of the users can add new pages to the FineReader document and modify them. If one of the users adds pages and launches the optical character recognition process for them, ABBYY FineReader will process the whole document anew. The other users will not be able to edit the document during the conversion process. After the background of the page turns white, all tools in the Text window will be available.
  • Document pages that are currently being processed by a user are locked for all other users.
  • Users can monitor the page status from the Document window. They can see which user has opened a page, or if the page is recognized or edited. If you would like to see the status, use the Details view.
  • The fonts used in the document need to be installed on every computer in order for the recognized text to be displayed correctly.
